Storytelling Through Workshop
This workshop explores the art of visual storytelling through sequential images and page design.
Students will build compelling narratives using composition, pacing, character expression, and cinematic storytelling techniques. Throughout the course, each student will conceive, develop, and complete an original storytelling project, progressing from initial concept and storyboarding through the creation of fully realized finished pages.
What Students Will Learn
Develop compelling stories through effective narrative structure and visual pacing.
Convey emotion, personality, and action through character expression and scene composition.
Use thumbnailing and storyboarding techniques to plan and refine visual narratives.
Design engaging comic and sequential art layouts that guide the reader through the story.
Execute and polish finished pages using professional storytelling and presentation standards.
Course Structure
Session 1: Story Concept Development
Develop a compelling five-page story concept, including narrative structure, character development, and key story beats.
Session 2: Layout Design and Storyboarding
Translate concepts into visual form through thumbnail sketches, page layouts, and storyboarding techniques.
Sessions 3–5: Final Page Creation and Refinement
Execute finished pages while refining storytelling, composition, pacing, and visual presentation through guided feedback and revision.
