SUMMARY:Animator Open House
DESCRIPTION:“Animator Open House” is a bi-monthly get-together of animators and animation fans featuring screenings and discussion. At each event\, four local animators will show either finished work or work in progress and talk about how and why they do what they do and ask for feedback from the audience. This open house to grow the local animation community will be at the Highlands Art Center\, 1140 Cherokee Road. \nFeatured for September 12\, 2026\nRoy Taylor \n \nRoy Taylor is a paper-cut\, stop motion animator based in Louisville\, KY He will be presenting his first animated short\, A Tale of Crows\, along with some work in progress from Crow Maiden\, an animated feature film demonstrating the process of combining 3d backgrounds with 2d paper cut stop motion and hand drawn overlays. \nEthan Osman \n \nEthan Osman is an animation dance master\, who will present two works that expand the notion of how dance and animation are related on paper and in human motion. \nJohn Akre \n \nJohn Akre is an experimental stop motion animator who lives in Louisville. He will be showing “Obtuse\,” a serious film about the nature of triangles (in 3D!)\, as well as “Cleanup in Aisle Adorno\,” a found footage movie altered with Sharpie pens and accompanied by the folk rhythms of Frankfort School philosopher Theodor Adorno. To get the full impact of the triangle image above\, use some red/blue 3D glasses.
